|Protein Name||Bcl-2-related protein A1|
|Molecular Weight||20132 MW|
|Protein Function||Retards apoptosis induced by IL-3 deprivation. May function in the response of hemopoietic cells to external signals and in maintaining endothelial survival during infection (By similarity). Can inhibit apoptosis induced by serum starvation in the mammary epithelial cell line HC11 (By similarity). .|
|Tissue Specificity||Seems to be restricted to the hematopoietic compartment. Expressed in peripheral blood, spleen, and bone marrow, at moderate levels in lung, small intestine and testis, at a minimal levels in other tissues. Also found in vascular smooth muscle cells and hematopoietic malignancies.|
|Alternative Names||Bcl-2-related protein A1;Bcl-2-like protein 5;Bcl2-L-5;Hemopoietic-specific early response protein;Protein BFL-1;Protein GRS;BCL2A1;BCL2L5, BFL1, GRS, HBPA1;|

All lanes: Anti Bcl2A1(PA2102) at 0.5ug/ml
Lane 1: HELA Whole Cell Lysate at 40ug
Lane 2: JURKAT Whole Cell Lysate at 40ug
Predicted bind size: 30KD
Observed bind size: 30KD
1. Post-translational modification:phosphorylation, methylation, glycosylation etc. These modifications prevent SDS molecules from binding to the target protein and thus make the band size appear larger than expected
2. Post-translational cleavage: this can cause smaller bands and or multiple bands
3. Alternative splicing: the same gene can have alternative splicing patterns generating different size proteins, all with reactivities to the antibody.
4. Amino Acid R chain charge: SDS binds to positive charges. The different size and charge of the Amino Acid side chains can affect the amount of SDS binding and thus affect the observed band size.
5. Multimers: Multimers are usually broken up in reducing conditions. However if the interactions between the multimers are strong, the band may appear higher.,
