|Protein Name||Linker for activation of T-cells family member 2|
|Molecular Weight||26550 MW|
|Protein Function||Involved in FCER1 (high affinity immunoglobulin epsilon receptor)-mediated signaling in mast cells. May also be involved in BCR (B-cell antigen receptor)-mediated signaling in B-cells and FCGR1 (high affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc receptor I)-mediated signaling in myeloid cells. Couples activation of these receptors and their associated kinases with distal intracellular events through the recruitment of GRB2. .|
|Tissue Specificity||Highly expressed in spleen, peripheral blood lymphocytes, and germinal centers of lymph nodes. Also expressed in placenta, lung, pancreas and small intestine. Present in B- cells, NK cells and monocytes. Absent from T-cells (at protein level). .|
|Subcellular Localization||Cell membrane ; Single-pass type III membrane protein . Present in lipid rafts.|
|Alternative Names||Linker for activation of T-cells family member 2;Linker for activation of B-cells;Membrane-associated adapter molecule;Non-T-cell activation linker;Williams-Beuren syndrome chromosomal region 15 protein;Williams-Beuren syndrome chromosomal region 5 protein;LAT2;LAB, NTAL, WBS15, WBSCR15, WBSCR5;HSPC046;|

1. Post-translational modification:phosphorylation, methylation, glycosylation etc. These modifications prevent SDS molecules from binding to the target protein and thus make the band size appear larger than expected
2. Post-translational cleavage: this can cause smaller bands and or multiple bands
3. Alternative splicing: the same gene can have alternative splicing patterns generating different size proteins, all with reactivities to the antibody.
4. Amino Acid R chain charge: SDS binds to positive charges. The different size and charge of the Amino Acid side chains can affect the amount of SDS binding and thus affect the observed band size.
5. Multimers: Multimers are usually broken up in reducing conditions. However if the interactions between the multimers are strong, the band may appear higher.,
