Background of SIRT4

Sirtuin 4, also known as SIRT4, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the SIRT4 gene. This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class IV of the sirtuin family.

Antibody Validation

Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

Question

We are currently using anti-SIRT4 antibody A03764-1 for human tissue, and we are well pleased with the IHC-P results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse, rat. Is it possible that the antibody can work on canine tissues as well?

Verified Customer

Verified customer

Asked: 2018-03-21

Answer

The anti-SIRT4 antibody (A03764-1) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with canine tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in canine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
