Overview

Product Name HeLa Cell Lysate (Whole Cell)
SKU: LYSATE0001
Description This cell lysate is prepared from Hela cells using Boster's RIPA Lysis Buffer using a standard whole cell lysate protocol. The concentration was determined using the BCA assay process and then diluted using Dithiothreitol (DTT) and a reducing SDS sample loading buffer, heated for 5 minutes at 100˚C.
Expression Profile: Read about Hela cells' gene expression and protein transcription profile details: The Genomic and Transcriptomic Landscape of a HeLa Cell Line
Applications Western blot control (20-40μg/lane)
Quality Control 1. The isolated protein pattern on SDS-PAGE gel is visualized by coomassie blue staining. The pattern is consistent with each lot.
2. The isolated protein is Western Blot analyzed by either a GAPDH or beta-actin antibody. The expression level is consistent with each lot.
3. This lysate is used to test many Boster's primary antibodies. See QC images from these antibodies for more details

Background HeLa cells are human epithelial cells from a fatal cervical carcinoma. The cell line was derived from cervical cancer cells taken from Henrietta Lacks, a patient who died of her cancer on October 4, 1951. Horizontal gene transfer from human papillomavirus 18 (HPV18) to human cervical cells created the HeLa genome which is different from either parent genome in various ways including its number of chromosomes. The cell line was to be significantly durable and prolific and has since been widely used in scientific research. HeLa cells have a modal chromosome number of 82, with 4 copies of chromosome 12 and 3 copies of chromosomes 6, 8, and 17. HeLa cells are adherent cells and maintain contact inhibition in vitro.
