Usage and Handling
TBS is safe and non-toxic, requiring no special handling considerations.
Dissolve 1 pouch of TBS powder in distilled water to make a total volume of 2000 ml ready to use buffer solution.
Tris buffered saline (TBS) is an isotonic pH stabilizing buffer solution commonly used in immunoassay procedures providing optimal conditions for antibody-antigen binding interactions. It is utilized in IHC as substance diluent for washes between sequential immunoreactions to remove unbound immunological agents, and for incubation mixtures for labeled antibodies and other immunoreagents to reduce unspecific background noise. In Western blotting TBS buffer is a main component in the composition of the buffers used in the washing, blocking and antibody diluting procedures.
