Why Choose An Antibody Manufacturer For ELISA Testing?

We don't just run assays — we understand the science from molecule to data

Boster supports IND filing and GMP release assays for therapeutic and diagnostic clients. Since 1993, we've manufactured antibodies and ELISA kits, developing the Picokine™ ELISA platform. With over 1,000 kits and over 6,000 publication references by 2019, we offer quality, knowledge, and cost-effectiveness for your ELISA needs.

  • Faster troubleshooting when signal is off — we know how our antibodies behave
  • Real understanding of antibody binding behavior and epitope interactions
  • Expert guidance on kit selection, substitution, and optimization strategies
  • Lot continuity awareness and quality control across manufacturing batches
  • Cross-platform assay knowledge from 30+ years of ELISA development
  • Direct access to the scientists who developed the Picokine™ platform

Their (Boster Bio) service exceeded my expectations. Their project manager responds quickly (within 1-2 hours) with professionalism. Good quality of data using low amount of sample volume at a fair price.

SOW template for ELISA service

Project Scope:

We will perform ELISA for the client.

Options:

[Sample dilution optimization: yes / no (customer needs to provide sample dilution ratio)]

Excess materials: [return to customer/destroy]

1. Materials

Sample information and experiment layout:

Sample 1: (example entry) 80 human sera, to test in duplicates. Samples need no processing. This sample is a regular sample.

Sample 2: [Sample Qty] [Species] [Sample type], test in [Sample replication]. Samples need [Sample processing requirements]. This sample is [Sample role: 1. to be used in optimization 2. To be used as positive/negative control 3. a regular sample]

ELISA kits and materials:

ELISA kit 1: (example entry) Boster BDNF EK0307 $399, Source: Boster

ELISA kit 2: [Company] [Target] [Sku] $[Price], [Source: customer provide/procure/Boster]. [Optional: is a DIY kit: yes / no]

2. Experiment Phases

Phase 1: sample concentrations optimization

We will use up to 5 samples to optimize the dilution for the samples for each kit. We will test 8 concentrations of each sample to decide the best dilution to use in the next phase.

Note: if the customer knows the dilution ratio(s) to use, we will take the suggestion and skip this phase. If we find out in this phase that samples have large variations in target protein levels, in the next phase multiple dilutions should be run for each sample to ensure each sample has data in the linear range of the assay.

Deliverable: a report of the optimization results.

Turnaround time: 1-2 weeks after all materials are received.

Phase 2: ELISA of all samples

We will perform ELISA for all samples using all ELISA kits.

Deliverable: a report of the final results

Turnaround time: 1-2 weeks after customer confirmation of phase 1 and all materials are received

Special requirements: no

SOW options explained

Sample dilution optimization: we will determine the ideal dilution factor for your samples. Selecting up to 5 samples, we will perform a 7-fold serial dilution to assess which dilution ratio can bring the analyte's concentration to within the assay's dynamic range, preventing saturation or detection issues. Sample dilution optimization is necessary unless you can provide the exact dilution ratio to use for the samples.

Return or despose excess materials: The remaining samples and reagents be shipped back to you or disposed of. There are fees associated with both options

Sample type and processing requirements: different sample types require different processing. Details see below.

Protein Extraction Clarification* BCA
Cells Yes Yes Yes
Lysate No Yes Yes
Bone Tissue Yes (extra fee) Yes Yes
Tissue Yes Yes Yes
Cell Culture Supernatant No No Yes
Cell Pellet Yes Yes Yes
Plasma** No No No
Serum** No No No
Blood*** No No No
PBMC's No No No
Urin**** Afyon No Yes
Milk**** Afyon No Yes
Saliva**** Afyon No Yes

*Clarification: filtering the sample to get rid of cellular debris. Helps with reducing ELISA background.

**Serum and Plasma: 1-1.5uL of sample per lane, protein concentration assumed to be ~50mg/mL, need clarification if samples are lipemic

***Blood: need to spin down to serum/plasma, extra charge

****Low expression protein: Need to use Afyon kit to concentrate protein. Extra charge.

Sample replication: by default we assume all samples are tested in duplicates. If you want it done differently please tell us.

Develop it yourself (DIY) kit: if this kit is not a pre-coated, ready to use ELISA kit, but an antibody pair + recombinant standard, we will have to develop the assay, and charge a fee for it.

Sample role in experiment: the 3 most common sample roles in ELISA are:
1. used in optimization
2. used as positive or negative control
3. a regular sample, aka a Unknown

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about ELISA testing service.

Q1. Can you run ELISA using customer-provided kits?

Yes, we routinely run ELISA using kits provided by customers. We can also use Boster kits, antibody pairs with standards, or a combination. Just specify your preferred kit in your inquiry.

Q2. What sample volumes do you need?

Sample volume requirements vary by sample type and number of replicates. For serum/plasma, typically 1-1.5µL per well is sufficient. For tissue or cell samples, we'll discuss specific requirements based on your target protein and expected concentration. Contact us with your sample details for precise volume recommendations.

Q3. Can you help if my assay is not optimized?

Absolutely. We offer sample dilution optimization as part of our service. We'll test multiple dilutions to find the optimal range for your samples. As antibody manufacturers, we can also provide expert guidance on troubleshooting problematic assays and suggest alternatives if needed.

Q4. Do you support preclinical or GLP-like environments?

Yes, with over 30 years of experience, Boster excels in providing comprehensive support for IND filing, GMP release assays, and various advanced requirements for therapeutic and diagnostic clients. We can discuss your specific regulatory and documentation requirements.

Q5. What's your typical turnaround time?

Typical turnaround is 1-2 weeks per phase after all materials are received. Phase 1 (optimization) takes 1-2 weeks, and Phase 2 (full sample testing) takes another 1-2 weeks after you approve the optimization results. Rush services may be available — contact us to discuss your timeline.

Q6. How do I get started?

Simply fill out the inquiry form on this page with details about your samples, target proteins, and timeline. We'll review your information, provide a quote with a detailed scope of work (SOW), and guide you through the next steps. You can also email us directly at services@bosterbio.com.
