Background of CXCL5

C-X-C motif chemokine 5 or ENA-78 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CXCL5 gene. The protein encoded by this gene, CXCL5 is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It is produced following stimulation of cells with the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 or tumor necrosis factor-alpha. Expression of CXCL5 has also been observed ineosinophils, and can be inhibited with the type II interferon IFN-γ. This chemokine stimulates the chemotaxis of neutrophils possessing angiogenic properties. It elicits these effects by interacting with the cell surface chemokine receptor CXCR2. The gene for CXCL5 is encoded on four exons and is located on human chromosome 4 amongst several other CXC chemokine genes. CXCL5 has been implicated in connective tissue remodelling. Also, CXCL5 has been described to regulate neutrophil homeostasis.

Question

We ordered your anti-CXCL5 antibody for ELISA on platelet in a previous experiment. I am using rat, and We want to use the antibody for WB next. We want examining platelet as well as smooth muscle tissue in our next experiment. Do you have any suggestion on which antibody would work the best for WB?

Verified Customer

Asked: 2018-11-15

Answer

I looked at the website and datasheets of our anti-CXCL5 antibody and it appears that PB9859 has been tested on rat in both ELISA and WB. Thus PB9859 should work for your application. Our Boster satisfaction guarantee will cover this product for WB in rat even if the specific tissue type has not been validated. We do have a comprehensive range of products for WB detection and you can check out our website bosterbio.com to find out more information about them.

Asked: 2018-02-14

Answer

The anti-CXCL5 antibody (PB9859) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with canine tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in canine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
