IF analysis of Islet 1/ISL1 using anti-Islet 1/ISL1 antibody (A02969-3).
Islet 1/ISL1 was detected in a paraffin-embedded section of mouse brain tissue. Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0, epitope retrieval solution). The tissue section was blocked with 10% goat serum. The tissue section was then incubated with 5 μg/mL rabbit anti-Islet 1/ISL1 Antibody (A02969-3) overnight at 4°C. FITC Conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (BA1105) was used as secondary antibody at 1:500 dilution and incubated for 30 minutes at 37°C. Visualize using a fluorescence microscope and filter sets appropriate for the label used.

Background of ISL1
Insulin gene enhancer protein ISL-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the isl1 gene. This gene encodes a member of the LIM/homeodomain family of transcription factors. The encoded protein binds to the enhancer region of the insulin gene, among others, and may play an important role in regulating insulin gene expression. The encoded protein is central to the development of pancreatic cell lineages and may also be required for motor neuron generation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young.
