Background of MUC5AC
Mucin 5AC (Muc5AC) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MUC5AC gene. Using real-time RT-PCR, Moehle et al. (2006) found that MUC5AC was highly expressed in adult trachea and stomach. Expression was lower in adult lung and weak in fetal lung, and no expression was detected in other tissues. This gene has been linked to mucus hypersecretion in the pulmonary tracts and associated to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Moreover, Muc5ac is identified as a direct and critical mediator of resistance during intestinal nematode infection.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

IHC analysis of Mucin Gastric using anti-Mucin Gastric antibody (MA1061).
Mucin Gastric was detected in a paraffin-embedded section of human colon cancer tissue. Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0, epitope retrieval solution). The tissue section was blocked with 10% goat serum. The tissue section was then incubated with 2 μg/ml mouse anti-Mucin Gastric Antibody (MA1061) overnight at 4°C. Peroxidase Conjugated Goat Anti-mouse IgG was used as secondary antibody and incubated for 30 minutes at 37°C. The tissue section was developed using HRP Conjugated Mouse IgG Super Vision Assay Kit (Catalog # SV0001) with DAB as the chromogen.

1 Customer Q&As for Anti-Mucin Gastric MUC5AC Antibody (Monoclonal, 45M1)
Question
We are currently using anti-Mucin Gastric antibody (Monoclonal, 45M1) MA1061 for rabbit tissue, and we are satisfied with the ICC results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, rabbit, rat. Is it true that the antibody can work on zebrafish tissues as well?

Answer
The anti-Mucin Gastric antibody (Monoclonal, 45M1) (MA1061) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with zebrafish tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in zebrafish you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
