Description

IGFBP1 regulates IGF biology by binding IGF1/IGF2 and modulating their availability to IGF receptors (IGF signaling axis; endocrine/metabolic and growth contexts). Assay context: tissue localization by IHC and protein-level confirmation by Western blotting are commonly combined to separate compartmental expression vs. total abundance. Often evaluated alongside other IGF-binding proteins such as IGFBP3 and Human IGFBP7 ELISA, or upstream ligand context such as Mouse IGF-2 ELISA (species-appropriate).

Storage & Handling

Store at -20˚C for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4˚C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20˚C for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Background of IGFBP1

IGFBP1, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 1, also known as placental protein 12 (PP12), is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IGFBP1 gene. The IGFBP1 gene has 4 exons and spans 5.9 kb. And the IGFBP1 gene is localized to 7p13-p12 by in situ hybridization. This gene is a member of the Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein (IGFBP) family and encodes a protein with an IGFBP domain and a type-I thyroglobulin domain. The protein binds both insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) I and II and circulates in the plasma. Binding of this protein prolongs the half-life of the IGFs and alters their interaction with cell surface receptors. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.

Antibody Validation

Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

Question

Does anti-IGFBP1 antibody A00922 work on primate WB with decidua?

Verified Customer

Verified customer

Asked: 2019-10-29

Answer

Our lab technicians have not validated anti-IGFBP1 antibody A00922 on primate. You can run a BLAST between primate and the immunogen sequence of anti-IGFBP1 antibody A00922 to see if they may cross-react. If the sequence homology is close, then you can perform a pilot test. Keep in mind that since we have not validated primate samples, this use of the antibody is not covered by our guarantee. However we have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in primate decidua in WB, you can get your next antibody for free.
