Background of SERPINA12

Serpin A12 (serine proteinase inhibitor-clade A #12; also vaspin) is a 45?50 kDa, secreted member of the alpha1-antitrypsin (clade A)-subfamily, Serpin superfamily of protease inhibitors. It is produced by visceral and subcutaneous adipocytes, plus adipocyte-derived stem cells during obesity or diabetes. The presence of vaspin reverses insulin-resistance. Its molecular target is unknown, but it may antagonize the action of proteases that impair the action of insulin. Rat Serpin A12 is 411 amino acids (aa) in length. It contains a 20 aa signal sequence and a 391 aa mature region. A potential “active” inhibitor site lies between Gly364 and Pro389. Mature rat Serpin A12 shares 62% and 88% aa identity with human and mouse Serpin A12, respectively.

Antibody Validation

Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.
