Calcium-regulated non-lysosomal thiol-protease (By similarity). Involved in membrane trafficking from the gastric surface mucus cells (pit cells) and may involve the membrane trafficking of mucus cells via interactions with coat protein.

Proteolytically cleaves the beta-subunit of coatomer complex. .
