Catalyzes the transfer of the acyl group of long-chain fatty acid-CoA conjugates onto carnitine, an important step for the adrenal uptake of long-chain fatty acids and their subsequent beta-oxidation in the mitochondrion. Plays an important role in triglyceride metabolism.
