Required for efficient N-glycosylation.
Necessary for maintaining optimal levels of dolichol-linked oligosaccharides.

Hydrolyzes dolichyl pyrophosphate at a very high rate and dolichyl monophosphate in a significantly lower rate. Doesn't act on phosphatidate.
