Essential component of glycosylphosphatidylinositol- mannosyltransferase 1 which transfers the first of the 4 mannoses in the GPI-anchor precursors through GPI-anchor biosynthesis. Probably acts by stabilizing the mannosyltransferase PIGM (By similarity).
