Catalyzes the formation of CDP-diacylglycerol (CDP-DAG) from phosphatidic acid (PA) in the mitochondrial inner membrane. Required for the biosynthesis of this dimeric phospholipid cardiolipin, which stabilizes supercomplexes of the mitochondrial respiratory chain from the mitochondrial inner membrane (By similarity).
