Uroplakin-3a (UPK3A)

Part of the asymmetric unit membrane (AUM); a highly specialized biomembrane elaborated by terminally differentiated urothelial cells. May play an essential role in AUM-cytoskeleton interaction in terminally differentiated urothelial cells.

Additionally, it contributes to the formation of urothelial glycocalyx that might play an significant role in preventing bacterial adherence (By similarity). .
