Description
ADAM2 (fertilin β) is a membrane-anchored disintegrin/metalloprotease implicated in sperm–egg interactions and other cell–cell/cell–matrix processes (from page background). Assay context: WB human samples using PA2069. In reproductive biology panels, may be evaluated alongside chromatin regulators like ARID2 to study germ cell differentiation (putative).

Background of ADAM2
ADAM2 (A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase Domain 2) , also known as FTNB or PH30, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the ADAM2 gene. This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. This member is a subunit of an integral sperm membrane glycoprotein called fertilin, which plays an important role in sperm-egg interactions. Burkin et al. (1997) used fluorescence in situ hybridization to map the FTNB gene to 8p11.2.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

1 Customer Q&As for Anti-ADAM2 Antibody Picoband®
Question
We are currently using anti-ADAM2 antibody PA2069 for human tissue, and we are well pleased with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human. Is it possible that the antibody can work on canine tissues as well?

Answer
The anti-ADAM2 antibody (PA2069) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with canine tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in canine you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
