IHC analysis of CACNA1C using anti-CACNA1C antibody (A00976-2).
CACNA1C was detected in a paraffin-embedded section of mouse brain tissue. Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0, epitope retrieval solution). The tissue section was blocked with 10% goat serum. The tissue section was then incubated with 1:200 rabbit anti-CACNA1C Antibody (A00976-2) overnight at 4°C. Peroxidase Conjugated Goat Anti-rabbit IgG was used as secondary antibody and incubated for 30 minutes at 37°C. The tissue section was developed using HRP Conjugated Rabbit IgG Super Vision Assay Kit (Catalog # SV0002) with DAB as the chromogen.

Background of CACNA1C
Calcium voltage-gated channel subunit alpha1 C (CACNA1C, also known as CACH2 and Cav1.2) couples transient activation of inward calcium current to transcriptional regulation and plays an important role in dendritic development, neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, memory formation, learning, and behavior (PMID: 21248242; 16251435; 20169575; 19047462; 18174367). Genetic variation in CACNA1C has also been associated with depression, schizophrenia, and autism spectrum disorders, as well as changes in brain function and structure in control subjects who have no diagnosable psychiatric illness (PMID: 22705413).
