Background of C9
Complement component 9 is a protein involved in the complement system. It participates in the formation of the Membrane Attack Complex (MAC). The MAC assembles on bacterial membranes to form a pore, permitting disruption of bacterial membrane organization. Mutations in this gene cause component C9 deficiency. And this gene is mapped to 5p13.1.

Western blot analysis of Complement C9 using anti-Complement C9 antibody (A01010-2).
Electrophoresis was performed on a 5-20% SDS-PAGE gel at 70V (Stacking gel) / 90V (Resolving gel) for 2-3 hours. The sample well of each lane was loaded with 50ug of sample under reducing conditions.
Lane 1: human placenta tissue lysates.
After Electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a Nitrocellulose membrane at 150mA for 50-90 minutes. Blocked the membrane with 5% Non-fat Milk/ TBS for 1.5 hour at RT. The membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-Complement C9 antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody (Catalog # A01010-2) at 0.5 μg/mL overnight at 4°C, then washed with TBS-0.1%Tween 3 times with 5 minutes each and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:10000 for 1.5 hour at RT. The signal is developed using an Enhanced Chemiluminescent detection (ECL) kit (Catalog # EK1002) with Tanon 5200 system. A specific band was detected for Complement C9 at approximately 80KD. The expected band size for Complement C9 is at 63KD.

We are currently using anti-Complement C9 antibody A01010-2 for human tissue, and we are satisfied with the WB results. The species of reactivity given in the datasheet says human, mouse. Is it likely that the antibody can work on primate tissues as well?

The anti-Complement C9 antibody (A01010-2) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with primate tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity.
