Background of CD3E

CD3e molecule, epsilon also known as CD3E is a polypeptide which in humans is encoded by the CD3E gene which resides on chromosome 11. It is mapped to 11q23.3. The protein encoded by this gene is the CD3-epsilon polypeptide, which together with CD3-gamma, -delta and -zeta, and the T-cell receptor alpha/beta and gamma/delta heterodimers, forms the T cell receptor-CD3 complex. This complex plays an important role in coupling antigen recognition to several intracellular signal-transduction pathways. The genes encoding the epsilon, gamma and delta polypeptides are located in the same cluster on chromosome 11. The epsilon polypeptide plays an essential role in T-cell development.

Antibody Validation

Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

3 Customer Q&As for Anti-Mouse CD3E DyLight® 488 conjugated Antibody

Question

Our lab were satisfied with the WB result of your anti-Mouse CD3E DyLight® 488 conjugated antibody . However we have observed positive staining in thymus cell membrane using this antibody. Is that expected? Could you tell me where is CD3E supposed to be expressed?

Asked: 2020-04-16

Answer

Based on literature, thymus does express CD3E. Generally CD3E expresses in cell membrane. Regarding which tissues have CD3E expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues:
Blood, Pubmed ID: 3267235, 15489334
Leukemic T-cell, Pubmed ID: 15144186, 19690332
Thymus, Pubmed ID: 14702039

Asked: 2020-03-12

Answer

The anti-Mouse CD3E DyLight® 488 conjugated antibody (A02675-Dyl488) has not been validated for cross reactivity specifically with goat tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in goat you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
