Background of MUC5AC
Mucin-5AC is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MUC5AC gene. It is mapped to 11p15.5. MUC5AC is highly expressed in adult trachea and stomach. This gene has been linked to mucus hypersecretion in the pulmonary tracts and associated to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It has been showed that activation of the NF-kappa-B signaling pathway by inflammatory cytokine TNF-alpha upregulated MUC5AC mRNA expression nearly 6-fold. MUC5AC is also a direct and critical mediator of resistance during intestinal nematode infection.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

IHC analysis of Mucin-5AC using anti-Mucin-5AC antibody (PB9286).
Mucin-5AC was detected in a paraffin-embedded section of human gastric carcinoma tissue. Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0, epitope retrieval solution). The tissue section was blocked with 10% goat serum. The tissue section was then incubated with 2 μg/ml rabbit anti-Mucin-5AC Antibody (PB9286) overnight at 4°C. Peroxidase Conjugated Goat Anti-rabbit IgG was used as secondary antibody and incubated for 30 minutes at 37°C. The tissue section was developed using HRP Conjugated Rabbit IgG Super Vision Assay Kit (Catalog # SV0002) with DAB as the chromogen.

5 Customer Q&As for Anti-Mucin 5AC/MUC5AC Antibody
Question
We ordered your anti-Mucin 5AC/MUC5AC antibody for WB on stomach a few years ago. I am using human, and I plan to use the antibody for IHC next. I am interested in examining stomach as well as nasal cavity epithelium in our next experiment. Could you please give me some suggestion on which antibody would work the best for IHC?

Answer
From what I have seen in literature trachea does express MUC5AC. From what I have seen in Uniprot.org, MUC5AC is expressed in nasal cavity epithelium, trachea, tracheobronchial mucosa, placenta trachea, nasal polyp, colon, stomach, among other tissues. Regarding which tissues have MUC5AC expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues:
Colon, Pubmed ID: 15489334
Nasal polyp, Pubmed ID: 7513696, 7775418
Placenta, and Trachea, Pubmed ID: 9620876
Stomach, Pubmed ID: 17974005
Trachea, Pubmed ID: 9506983
Tracheobronchial mucosa, Pubmed ID: 2656675

Asked: 2019-06-14
Answer
The anti-Mucin 5AC/MUC5AC antibody (PB9286) has not been tested for cross reactivity specifically with monkey tissues, but there is a good chance of cross reactivity. We have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in monkey you can get your next antibody for free. Please contact me if I can help you with anything.
