Product Name
Anti-Thrombospondin 2/THBS2 Antibody Picoband®
SKU/Catalog Number
A03253-1
Size
100 μg/vial
Form
Lyophilized
Description
THBS2 (thrombospondin-2) is an extracellular matricellular glycoprotein mediating cell–cell/cell–matrix interactions and described on-page as inhibiting tumor growth/angiogenesis and modulating adhesion/migration; UniProt also notes CD36-ligand anti-angiogenic activity (ECM organization; negative regulation of angiogenesis). Assay context: WB with the A03253-1 antibody, commonly interpreted via comparative banding/isoforms in Western blotting workflows. Often contextualized alongside ECM remodeling markers such as MMP3, Human MMP-9 ELISA, and ECM inhibitors like Human TIMP-3 ELISA; collagen crosslinking/fibrosis context can be compared with LOXL2.
Storage & Handling
Store at -20˚C for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4˚C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20˚C for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Background of Thbs2
Thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the THBS2 gene. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. The THBS2 is mapped to 6q27 and it is located on chromosome 17. The gene was transcribed in fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and an osteosarcoma cell line. It functions as a protein inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis and modulates the cell surface properties of mesenchymal cells and be involved in cell adhesion and migration.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

Western blot analysis of Thrombospondin 2 using anti-Thrombospondin 2 antibody (A03253-1).
Electrophoresis was performed on a 5-20% SDS-PAGE gel at 70V (Stacking gel) / 90V (Resolving gel) for 2-3 hours. The sample well of each lane was loaded with 50ug of sample under reducing conditions.
Lane 1: rat brain tissue lysates,
Lane 2: mouse brain tissue lysates.
After Electrophoresis, proteins were transferred to a Nitrocellulose membrane at 150mA for 50-90 minutes. Blocked the membrane with 5% Non-fat Milk/ TBS for 1.5 hour at RT. The membrane was incubated with rabbit anti-Thrombospondin 2 antigen affinity purified polyclonal antibody (Catalog # A03253-1) at 0.5 μg/mL overnight at 4℃, then washed with TBS-0.1%Tween 3 times with 5 minutes each and probed with a goat anti-rabbit IgG-HRP secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:10000 for 1.5 hour at RT. The signal is developed using an Enhanced Chemiluminescent detection (ECL) kit (Catalog # EK1002) with Tanon 5200 system. A specific band was detected for Thrombospondin 2 at approximately 160KD. The expected band size for Thrombospondin 2 is at 130KD.
