Background of TrkC
NTRK3 (Neurotrophic Tyrosine Kinase Receptor Type 3), also known as TRKC, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NTRK3 gene. By PCR analysis of a somatic cell hybrid panel and by fluorescence in situ hybridization with the cDNA clone, McGregor et al. (1994) mapped the NTRK3 gene to 15q24-q25. Lamballe et al. (1991) isolated and characterized TRKC, a member of the TRK family of tyrosine protein kinase genes. They found that TRKC is preferentially expressed in the brain; in situ hybridization studies showed transcripts in the hippocampus, cerebral cortex, and the granular cell layer of the cerebellum. By functional studies in HeLa cells, Muinos-Gimeno et al. (2009) demonstrated that 5 miRNAs regulate the truncated form of NTRK3.
Antibody Validation
Boster validates all antibodies on WB, IHC, ICC, Immunofluorescence, and ELISA with known positive control and negative samples to ensure specificity and high affinity, including thorough antibody incubations.

6 Customer Q&As for Anti-TrkC/NTRK3 Antibody
Question
Does PA1992 anti-TrkC/NTRK3 antibody work on parafin embedded sections? If so, which fixation method do you recommend we use (PFA, paraformaldehyde, other)?
Verified Customer

Asked: 2020-01-01
Answer
You can see on the product datasheet, PA1992 anti-TrkC/NTRK3 antibody as been validated on WB. It is best to use PFA for fixation because it has better tissue penetration ability. PFA needs to be prepared fresh before use. Long term stored PFA turns into formalin, as the PFA molecules congregate and become formalin.

Question
Will anti-TrkC/NTRK3 antibody PA1992 work on bovine WB with fetal brain?
L. Taylor
Verified customer
Asked: 2016-03-01
Answer
Our lab technicians have not validated anti-TrkC/NTRK3 antibody PA1992 on bovine. You can run a BLAST between bovine and the immunogen sequence of anti-TrkC/NTRK3 antibody PA1992 to see if they may cross-react. If the sequence homology is close, then you can perform a pilot test. Keep in mind that since we have not validated bovine samples, this use of the antibody is not covered by our guarantee. However we have an innovator award program that if you test this antibody and show it works in bovine fetal brain in WB, you can get your next antibody for free.
